End of Class

I just realized an issue with school that I’m trying to figure out a solution to. Kellie and I are wanting to take our classes together. I was just browsing around our University of Phoenix website and I found out something that may throw a monkey wrench into our plans. They apparently got our transcripts and I have 2 class waivers that Kellie doesn’t have. I don’t want to take a class I have a waiver for, but I don’t want to leave Kellie behind in school work. Unfortunately, our academic adviser is on a short vacation. I’m hoping we can get something resolved. Maybe we’ll somehow get a waiver for Kellie or I can take some alternate classes to fill the time.

I believe I’ve finished all that is required of this first class. Kellie and I have found that we have had a different experience in our class due to have different instructors. We were told that they should be the same. Granted, we have had the same reading and assignments due, the process of “talking in class” and the method for doing some things have been different. I believe I had a more helpful, but demanding instructor than Kellie’s.

On Tuesday, we start our second class. Our second class is titled “Contemporary Issues and Health Policy.” In its description, it says:

This course examines the interrelationships of legal decisions, health policy
development, legislation, and regulation in the context of contemporary issues.
Activities explore the impact of health policy changes on the individual nursing
practice and the delivery of health care to consumers. Nursing ethics are
explored in relation to health policy and decision making.

I guess we’ll have to see what this entails.

First Class

In case you haven’t noticed, I have not been posting anything new to the blog for several weeks. I was in our first week of class when I posted last time and we’re in our last week of our first class now. During this time, we have purchased 3 new desks for the computer room… one for Kellie, one for me and one for the printers. I’ve installed shelves in the computer room.  I’ve built myself a new desktop computer, as well as one for my mother-in-law. While we still have work to do in the computer room, I’ve accomplished quite a bit.  It looks NOTHING like it did before.  Once we get it more organized, I may post an image of that room.

A couple weekends ago, Kellie and I spent the weekend in San Francisco. I am glad we did. We spent one day roaming around Fisherman’s Wharf area and riding the cable car. We ate at a restaurant that I’d heard a lot about, but this was the first time I’d eaten at The Stinking Rose.  This place, as Kellie states it, serves a little food with its garlic.  It is located at the border of Chinatown and Little Italy. On that Sunday, we traveled across the bay, via BART, to the Oakland Raiders game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Thankfully the Raiders won.  It was the second victory of the season.  I have had a tough time "getting into" football this season with the pathetic showing of my Raiders.

During the weekend we were in San Francisco, the City of Roseville, opened a new dog park… Bear Park. We finally got around to taking Bear to Bear Park on Monday. I really like the new park. The old park had many areas for dogs to hide or not be seen. You can see the entire dog park play area from anywhere in the park. The lawn is big enough to really get Bear tired out. One feature I REALLY like, that I wasn’t even aware they were going to do, is there are two locations to wash your dog there. When they get all muddy, you can wash them off there in a concrete-floored fenced-in pen. The only issue I have now is that the parking area is not paved and has many muddy puddles.

I’m running out of ideas at the moment to share. I hope our next class goes well. I hope all the shock of taking classes has settled down. Maybe I’ll get around to posting more here.
