2 Years Ago Today

2 years ago right now, I was getting pretty nervous. I was about to go on a date with a girl I'd only communicated with online and talked on the phone with. I was desperately tying to think of an activity. I then came up with what I thought was a brilliant idea… miniature golf. I talked with Kellie and mentioned about going to Scandia. She was game. We showed up when they opened at 10AM. For some reason, we were the only ones playing. Like today, it was clear but freezing cold (OK, it wasn’t freezing at the time we were playing… it was only 40? F). Half-way through our game, we went inside for some hot apple cider. We finished the game, a tie coming to the 18th hole (I got a hole-in-one for the 18th.) We then headed to the Olive Garden at Madison/Sunrise in the Citrus Heights/Carmichael area. We had a great time, spending around 3 or so hours in the restaurant. Kellie then mentioned that they may want their table back, so we reconvened across the parking lot to a coffee shop for several more hours. I believe we both enjoyed ourselves immensely. We are about to celebrate our 2nd Christmas as a married couple and I just wanted to say I love her very much.

Almost Christmas

Things have continued to be quite busy for Kellie and I. The class Kellie and I are currently in, keeps us quite busy. We are nearing the end of the 4th week of a 5 week class. Between the 4th and 5th weeks though, there is a 2 week vacation. I REALLY wish that vacation was between the 3rd and 4th weeks instead. We have a major project due each week. I have got to work on my “term” paper this weekend. Kellie and I both will be happy when this class is over.

My brother Richard is flying in today, from Nebraska. I will be picking him up from the airport. He is scheduled to fly in while I’m at work, where I am at the moment, so I’ll be trying to get off work early. Richard will be spending some time with Kellie and I during his Christmas break.

For Chistmas, Kellie and I were planning on having an artificial Christmas tree. We initially got a “hand-me-down” tree from Kellie’s parents. We were planning on trying to find a tree after Christmas, for next year. Kellie and I visited California Backyard to see what kind of trees might be available. Well, one thing lead to another and we walked out with a 7.5′ tall, pre-lit tree with many other accessories. It is a VERY nice tree.  I’ve set up several other Christmas decorations, but not nearly as much as last year, due to schoolwork.

Wireless Data Everywhere

As I've mentioned many times, school is taking up much of my time. At work, I am finding that it is getting busier and I'm having less time posting at locations like Borders Bookstore. This is where I've been going to use the T-Mobile Hotspot for internet access. Ever since I began school, I've been thinking how handy it would be to get internet access anywhere, even while moving around in the ambulance. I've been looking at different technologies. At one point, I was considering changing my cell phone providor, in order to get a fast wireless card for my laptop. I have had Cingular since before it was ever Cingular (PacBell PCS).  Kellie also had Cingular, as does two of my sisters and my in-laws, and we can get free mobile-to-mobile calls with other Cingular members. Kellie and I had seperate accounts. I then found 2 exciting details a couple days ago. Cingular now offers broadband speeds via a PCMCIA card in select ut growing markets and SOME service anywhere I can make a phone call (although it may be very slow.) I also found out that I could get a 16% discount due to a deal with my employer. Yesterday, I merged our phones into one family account and added a wireless card with unlimited internet access for a grand total of a few dollars cheaper a month than we were paying. In conjunction to cancelling my T-Mobile account, this will be saving me over $30/month. So far, this makes me happy. Let's just hope the service does me good. This new service has a theoretical download speed of 3.6Mbps. At the momment, I am getting around 600Kbps down and 350Kbps up. Not TOOO bad, considering we are moving down the road in the ambulance.
